Emma Catacutan is an emerging multidisciplinary artist living in Southern California. Working across painting, photography, sculpture, video, and writing, her practice explores memory, queerness, and the afterimages of lived experience. Rooted in the belief that all things are interconnected, her visual practice is deeply inspired by her writing, whether it be her poetry, diaries, or letters to loved ones. Drawn to the tension between internal and external worlds, she navigates the space between immediacy and distance, the personal and the political, and experience and reflection. Using evocative and ephemeral materials and motifs such as bed sheets, her own hair, and lilies, she creates a space where grief, reclamation, and beauty coexist.
